X75 Lexmark printer ttrio can no longer scan or copy

Nov 11, 2004 3:45PM PST

Hi,
After only 1 year, my Lexmark 75 3 in one printer, scanner, and copier will only print now. It has lost its copy and scanning functions. I called their support and was told to disconnect the usb cables from, both the printer and computer, then disconnect the printer power supply. Finally, reboot the computer and connect all the usb connections and the power supply to the priner. This does not work and I still get an error when trying to scan or copy!! I have a WinXP Home OS with a pentium 4 2.4 ghz cpu, 512 mb ram, 2 internal 80 gb hard drives and a cd-r/w and dvd/rw drives. Can you think of what I can do next to try and fix this problem? Thank you vert much.
Sincerely,
Miles

Try this

I would go to the control panel, add/remove programs, and remove the lexmark files. Reboot your computer with the printer disconnected. Then follow the instructions that came with the printer, act as if you just bought the printer and are installing it for the first time. It should then work. If you had a digital camera and removed the program for it, some of the files were probably shared with the printer, thus causing the error. Had this happen when I removed the camera files. Good Luck

Thought I'd let you know you are not alone. I was never able to scan or copy on my Lexmark X75 because I never had to until a year after my purchase but when I did want to scan, It would not let me. I get a message saying what you just described above (disconnect cables, blah, blah, blah) but to no avail. I downloaded the driver and patch off of the Lexmark website and still no go. It just doesn't make sense that I can print but not scan. Well, if you ever figure this out, let me know and I'll owe you one.
