Whatever 11GB 4200 RPM drive came in my Acer ter-600 is now gone so I can't detail what it was. I replaced it with a 40GB 5400 ATA100 Toshiba of some model I'm unsure of but could find out if I pulled it out, but it's not that interesting except...
Before I could never boot up in less than 4 minutes with Windows 2000. I cloned the drive and the boot time is now less than 2 minutes. Such changes are well worth it in my book.
Hope this helps you decide.
I have a Compaq Presario x1000 and have finally decided that to upgrade my 4200 rpm hard drive to get better performance. I think I'm going to go for a 5400 rpm, but doesn anyone out there know how much of a performance difference you can feel with 7200 rpm ones?
Also, what are Latency, Cache, Interface, and Form Factor, and how should I factor these in when making my choice?
Here are the ones I've found on newegg so far. Any opinions on the quality of these would be appreciated.
