WXP Home STANDBY command

Feb 21, 2004 2:11AM PST

I am trying to create a one-button software command to put WXP Home into "Standby". This could be a shortcut to a batchfile, or a system command, as examples.

I'm aware that I can use "Start > Turn Off Computer > Standby", but I'd like a single button that I can put on the desktop to make this happen.

Are there similar commands for "Turn Off" and "Restart"?

Thanks.

Solved my own problem: if you want to create a shortcut that forces WXP into stand by (or shutdown or restart) go to: www.budja.com/shutdown and download his 32k exe into a subdir such as c:\Program Files\Shutdown\, then create a shortcut to shutdown.exe, and append the switch -s. When you click on the resulting shortcut, your system goes into stand by. You can also apply a delay using the -t switch, and there are switches for shutdown and restart as well. Instructions are provided.

I found this application on
