Wuala cloud service

Oct 30, 2014 7:20PM PDT

Just for your information.
Wuala blocked my access to my files in the free storage they gave me unless I will purchase some storage. I lost some valuable files because of this aggression.

Conclusion -

IF YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR FILES - USE WUALA CLOUD STORAGE.

How much did you have to pay for how much storage, and what was the value of your valuable files?

Wuala cloud storage
Oct 31, 2014 3:31AM PDT

I will try to summarize briefly as the all issue took some time.

I joined Wuala cloud with option to get 1 extra Giga (on top of the 5 Giga) for any new comer that will join the cloud.
All together I've got 12 Giga. I upload about 8 Giga to the cloud.

A few weeks ago I began to receive messages from Wuala :

WUALA:

" We noticed that you have exceeded your available Wuala storage space. That means
that you won't be able to upload and store additional files."
And :

Wuala is discontinuing its free storage offer. Therefore you have no more strage space with us, unless you subscribe to a paid monthly/yearly storage package or buy strorage once for a year.
To keep your storage, please choose a package that suits your needs at http://wuala.com/en/pricing/.
Our offers start at 0,99€/month for 5GB of storage space.

We hope Wuala suits your needs. If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us.

MYSELF :

Your Explanation is absolutely unacceptable !!
I bought my RIKIKI USB3 hard drive because they offer me a free storage space on Wuala cloud.
More than that, I joined Wuala Project and connected some other users and I gained 12 GB of FREE STORAGE !!
I spent a lot of time to upload some 8.5 GB of data to Wuala cloud.
It's Unacceptable to receive a notice like " Wuala is discontinuing its free storage offer. Therefore you have no more storage space with us, unless you subscribe to a paid monthly/yearly storage package or buy storage once for a year."
I do hope you will reconsider your attitude toward your Users regarding this matter.

WUALA:

I am very sorry, there has been a miscommunication as well as a temporary system error.
You received our warning by mistake and my reply to you was factually wrong.

I apologise for the upset I have caused you. Nothing will change about your storage, your data is still safe, your account will not be deleted.

Again, I am very sorry.

Still, we hope Wuala suits your needs. If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us.

AND :

After accessing your account details, I have noticed that you have 8,35 GB of data on your account, but only 5 GB of storage available. Reason for that is because all of your invitational codes have expired at the end of september (20.09. - 29.09.). Invitational codes are always valid for 1 year only (same as for example a code you receive with your LaCie product). I am sorry, but in order to upload any data, you will have to visit our pricing page ( https://www.wuala.com/pricing/ )and purchase additional storage for your account.

I stop uploading and sync with WUALA more than 6 month ago.
They never mention that the free space has time limit.
They just want me to buy some space.

A few days ago I tried to DOWNLOAD some files that I had on WUALA and I found that they are blocking my access. I explained that these file are important and I just want to download them and they may close my account/delete my files or whatever they want, But they refuse to let me have the files. Only purchasing a storage space will let me download the files.

Remark : they charge only 0.99 euro a month for 5GB But my issue was SERVICE not PRICING.

My conclusion from the whole story is :
IF YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR FILES, USE WUALA CLOUD.

Wouldn't this happen to ANY cloud service?

While you may feel slighted, isn't this yet another lesson about backup?

ThanX for your responds.

But most the responders missed my point.

My main issue is not "Backups", or "Pricing" etc
I can live without those files that I missed. I can purchase a storage space as much as WANT.....

My point is "QUALITY OF SERVICE OF A COMPANY ".

WUALA most valuable asset should be there reputation as a reliable, customer oriented company.
BUT THEY ARE NOT !!!

That is the reason that I am sign at the end of my post with :

IF YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR FILES, USE WUALA CLOUD

Didn't Egypt and Woz tell you never to do this?
