Write protected USB flash drive HELP!!!!

by howebber / September 18, 2009 9:57 AM PDT

I recently purchased another flash drive. I was in the process of transfering a file from my laptop to my desktop. The file loaded fine but when I put it in my desktop to upload the file I got the error message "Disk is write protected". Since that one time I am unable to remove it from that flash drive or add more files, no matter what I tried. I have 3 other flash drives and they all work fine. I even checked in the registery to make sure the "StorageDevicePolicies" was set to zero to no avail. Is it possible the flash drive just simply died after the first use? I'd really like to know if anyone else has had this problem and what, if anything, fixed it.

Thank you

It's a generic. I checked online where I bought it and the only info available is that it's an 8gig bracelet flash drive. I got it through meritline.com. It was a cheapy so I guess I got what I paid for.BTW, I forgot to mention, it doesn't have a switch.
Thanks
