Wow !.......Moisture

by Mac McMullen / January 24, 2006 10:47 PM PST

Just before daylight we received some ....... let me be
generous,.............. RAIN !

At least it smelled like rain, .........as I remember rain smelling.

Not enough to register in the rain guage, but enough to get all
exposed surfaces wet. But I'm not going to look into the mouth
of a gift horse. Out last measurable moisture was a "whole" one
tenth of an inch on either the 9th or 10th of October, 2005.

The sun is not yet up, and the sky doesn't look too encouraging
for more at the moment.

Let me think for a moment.......the definition of "desert" goes
something like this.......an area of land, usually in warm climates,
with no permanent bodies of water, and erratic rainfall.

Beats shovelling !!!!!!!!!

I was stationed at 29 Plams USMCB and got to really partake of the desert(high desert) living. Geezzz, man it gets hot. Car windows blowing out, shaving cream exploxing, exposed vinyl cracking in autos and of course, bad sunburn the first month there. But, on arriving on day-1 at the base, we crossed the mountains and there was some snow on the ground. We had great stone gardens to rake and maintain, ha! Been over in Saudi too, what an ashtray, sand on everything and everywhere. Well, you get that in a dry climate. Of course when it rains, it does seem odd. You get used to anything, if you follow the locals advice. This years before any 9/11 stuff. -----Willy

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
