Plasma. My last 3 sets have been Samsung plasmas (so I'm a plasma sort of person). I've had the PN58C8000 since mid-July, and I'm very happy with it. I do watch 3D from DirecTV.
The buzzing issue is a difficulty. I would not accept any audible buzzing, and some Samsung (and other) plasmas do buzz, clearly. I was fully prepared to send mine back if I heard a buzz, but I was lucky. No buzz.
2 weeks a go I purchased the Samsung UNC6900 best buy exclusive 55" LED-LCD set.
I was impressed by the accuracy of the color, grayscale and just general picture quality overall. My only issue with the set was the odd "soap opera" effect given to movies. I just couldn't get absorbed in a film/TV show with this odd picture processing.
I just discovered how to adjust this and even turn it off.
( MENU/PICTURE/PICTURE OPTIONS/AUTO MOTION PLUS ).
In my disappointment with this I have been looking to possibly exchange the set for the Samsung 58" 3D Plamsa, the PN58C8000 to be exact.
I have seen reviews stating issues with buzzing noise from the plasma sets, should I have concern. I can always exchaange the set, but with it being a 58" it's going to be an awkward experience if it happens.
I also hear the LED/LCD sets can hace issues with capacitors causing clicking, popping noises and even causing failure.
My gut tells me to spend an extra couple of hundred bucks and get the 58" and then I have the option to do 3D later if I like.
