I would look at the Fuji F100fd instead of the Z series. Here is a video of the Z100fd that was pretty decent.

The Panasonic is a little bit slow for my taste.
The Sony DSC-200 is a pretty good camera for what your asking for. The Canon SD series are very good also, but they're 4x zoom compared to the others 5x zooms.
I'm buying my first digital camera and have done a lot of reading. There are a few things I'm looking for/at and would like your valued opinions. Keep in mind I'm looking to stay under $200.00.
First - an optical zoom greater than 3x
Second - Optical Image Stabilizer
Third - one that makes great videos
Fourth - compact
There are so many out there but it appears that in my price range the Fuji Finepix z100fd and the Panasonic Lumix dmc-lz8 both meet my needs. The only diferences I see is that the Fuji runs video in AVI, and has an internal lens while the Panasonic runs video in Quiktime and has a telescopic lens, it also has the AF assist light.
I guess my first question is which do you prefer? And second, should I also be looking at something else?
