Hey, I make typing errors too. You have two kinds of memory in your system. You have "physical" memory which are the modules on your motherboard. This is volitile in that it's lost when you turn off your PC. You have hard drive space that Windows will use in a similar fashion to physical memory as needed. This is often referred to as your "swap file". I believe some swap file space is always in use but Windows will substitute this "virtual" memory (which is really hard drive media space) as physical memory depletes. Physical memory is much faster to access than hard drive space so this is one of the main reasons you may be encouraged to upgrade to more of it to increase system performance. Hope this helps some.
