General discussion

worth it to upgrade my current processor for gaming?

Mar 1, 2010 4:17AM PST

I have a:
Athlon 64 (V) 3500+ 2.2 GHz
2000 MT/s (mega transfers/second)
Socket 939

I was thinking of a Phenom to go with an ATI 5770.
is it worth the money to upgrade the processor for this?

Thanks!

I agree, Socket 939 is pretty much a dead-end. You'll be best served looking into newer offering to include mtrbd. and the required cpu, etc. and go from there. You may spend more, but you'll far ahead at least for now and of course its your wallet. Wink
