Worried about personal data when selling old PCs for parts

by stpbaker / November 17, 2011 3:36 AM PST

I'm planning to sell some old PCs for parts at a garage sale. If I remove the hard drive completely, is any (potentially) sensitive data still retained elsewhere in the machine?

No, you'll be fine.

By removing the hard drive there is no other place where personal data can be stored, so you will be fine.

That's why I take off the sticky with my password too. Once that's gone, and with no HDD, we're done.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
