Worm/vb.cc

Dec 28, 2005 7:54AM PST

Hi I am having troubles connecting to my dsl. Got a virus Sad
I healed this virus when it came up on my computer but now i cannot connect to the internet.
When I rebooted I got this error..

C:\WINNT\System32\autoexec.nt
file system not suitable for running ms dos and microsoft windows applications.

also this...

Error loading C:\Program1\newdot~1\newdot~1.dll
the specific module could not be found.

I believe this is a popup of when i was trying to connect to a p2p network, then nothing?

AVG detected trojan so i healed it.

But I think that was my first problem, I think I have deleted some files on my comp that will not let me connect to my dsl.
luckily I can use my sons comp. When i checked the AVG it gave me worm/vb.cc.

I have spent most of my day trying to figure out how to fix my comp, but being of little training on computers i could;d not figure it out.

Hi Thank you as well for the fast reply.
I think I deleted the new crap before I had a chanc e with the avg. I believe the file was corrupted by the trojan and I healed it. But must have deleted the file.
No great loss there anyway.

A big TY to You as well

Your welcome Joel. I think Roddy said it best..
Dec 28, 2005 1:42PM PST

when he said, 'If you continue to use P2P you are probably going to continue to have problems'. It's your choice in the end, but don't be surprised if you do continue to have problems. Something to reconsider....

Carol

(And btw.. you did include your OS in your original post..underneath your name)

The advice from David and Carol

should take care of the newdot.net problem. Once you are done with that, you may also need XP_FIX.EXE which is the 6th download down the page on this link for the

''C:\WINNT\System32\autoexec.nt
file system not suitable for running ms dos and microsoft windows applications.'' error you are getting on bootup.

http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/

Also, your statement of ''I believe this is a popup of when i was trying to connect to a p2p network, then nothing?'' is probably where are your problems are coming from. If you continue to use P2P you are probably going to continue to have problems. Take that for what it is worth.

It should help you anyway..
Dec 28, 2005 2:08PM PST

Roddy must have known that when he suggested it. (I've also read the the same myself.. where despite it saying "XP".. if you have 2000 with SP4.. it should work anyway)

My 2 cents.. again...
