Bookworm Bush's holiday reading

Earlier this year his wife, Laura, told the White House Correspondents Association dinner: "George and I were just meant to be ... I was the librarian who spent 12 hours a day in the library, yet somehow I met George."

I take that to mean that you don't think Clinton really read the Bible or got anything from it if he did.

How do you reach such a conclusion? By his behavior?

Clearly it was a cynical public display meant for media propaganda. Bush's reading list is just books he was reading.

Amazing that the fraud known as Bill Clinton continues to bamboozle you and so many liberals.

Which is why....

Did he discuss the books with anyone after he read them? If not, then you are basing "the difference" on your perceptions of the two men and not on any documented information about Bush.

As a Christian, you should be well aware that lots of people who consider themselves religious are flawed human beings just like anyone else. The divorce rates in the Bible Belt should illustrate that pretty well too.

sinners in need of a Saviour.

I have no idea what Clinton's faith is. It might very well be genuine.

However, I also know why he waved/waves the Bible into cameras. It has nothing to do with his Christianity. I've seen the video of Clinton laughing and joking at the funeral of his cabinet member. I put on his serious face as soon as he spotted a camera. It's the same with waving Bibles.

President Bush doesn't pull that kind of cynical crap.

GWB doesn't publicize his latest reading, but it does come up when ASKED, and mostly in interviews of Laura Bush.

He is a prolific reader. That is a fact. Unless you think Laura Bush is lying.

IQ and intelligence are not quite the same thing.

I've sure we have all known some high IQ folks who were about as dumb as posts.

I have no opinion at all re: Bush's intelligence. He may be very smart. If so, I'm not sure he has demonstrated it yet.

I said nothing about IQ, about which I am as skeptical as you. I only postulate that Bush is smarter than Josh.

I don't think that you can fly a jet fighter and become President if you're an idiot. I don't think that people who believe you can be an idiot and fly a jet fighter and become President are themselves all that bright. QED.

That's not easy to learn. But there are now and historically have been plenty of stupid people in elective office. They are able to surround themselves with people who can cover for them. Winning elections nowadays probably requires more charm than brains. People turned off to Kerry because he was "too intellectual" and people felt he wasn't one of them. Bush had the "Ah'm just plain folks" thing going and did it quite well, especially during the debates.

Maybe you thought Kerry was"intellectual"
by EdH / August 22, 2006 7:24 AM PDT

it was clear to me from the beginning (actually before then; I was familiar with him since I live near and worked in Massachusetts) that he was not the brightest bulb on the tree. Frankly I am amazed that he got as far as he did.

Bush clearly is much more intelligent than Kerry.

Thinking for self better than following media prejudices and "common wisdom".

Even if Bush is only smart enough to surround himself with the diabolical but genius Karl Rove, that's smarter than a lot of other people in Washington!

I have to give you that one. We came close with Kerry.

I assume you realize that Bush is smarter than Kerry. I think Jimmie Carter is one of the best proofs of your point.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
