Worlds oldest pornography found, where else? Germany.

Apr 16, 2005 10:19AM PDT

"Stone-age figurines depicting what could be the oldest pornographic scene in the world have been unearthed in Germany.
"Archaeologists have discovered what they believe to be the 7,200-year-old remnants of a man having intercourse with a woman.
"The extraordinary find, at an archaeological dig in Saxony, $hatters the belief that sex was a taboo subject in that era.
"Until now, the oldest representations of sexual scenes were frescos from about 2,000 years ago."

The Reeperbahn has since moved to Hamburg.

Rob

Apparently the word shatters, that's $hatters is illegal on SE forum.

I just find it rather amusing that he's trying to turn this into a liberal/conservative thing.

The world's oldest profession.

Which is the world's oldest profession? As far as I Know pornography isn't a profession.

Perhaps I'm wrong

but over and over again I've seen in film, in print, and in audio even the (somewhat exaggerated and silly I'm sure) claim that prostitution is the world's oldest "profession".

Just a pointless cliche maybe, but given it seemed widespread as far as I could tell, it seen unnotable that erotic drawings existed from as far back as drawings do.

And just to toss in the pot, don't 'they' also call acting the world's second oldest profession?

Don't they call

mime the second oldest profession?

Of course, mocking them is the worlds oldest hobby, but it doesn't traslate well to cave drawing.

Prostitution?

The only postitive thing with that "profession" is that they own their means of production at least.

Where else?
Apr 18, 2005 1:39AM PDT

Well, geez --- I don't know --- how 'bout any place where there was 2 or more people at any given time?

Wink

I may not be real up-to-date on porno and/or erotic history, but adding the "where else?" along with "Germany" might not have been my first guess if asked the question. India maybe (Kama Sutra author), Japanese, Chinese, those wouldn't have surprised me. Was anyone else, without Googling this subject (Whew!!), surprised with a "Where else? Germany" answer?

My ancestry, BTW, is similar to our dogs - I'm a mutt - German, Swedish, Irish, and God knows what else. I truly have no allegiance to any ancestral home beyond the U.S. of A.

In regard to there being ANY political bent to the information of the originating post - RIDICULOUS!! It is historical, anthropological, and archeological information only. To see it as anything else is purely digging for dirt.

At least in Europe, Germany has been legendary since the

60's for live sex shows, porno houses, porno production, streetwalkers and sin bins of every possible description. Even the French haven't managed to equal Germany, though both Spain and some Eastern bloc countries Hungary and Czech Republic seem to be giving Germany a run for top spot these days. And NO!, I'm not a consumer of the stuff, I just read voraciously and widely, this reference has been picked up third hand.
