Works 8.5 on Dell Inspiron 531 - won't allow font changes

Even tho I've selected the style & size font I want to print on my Works document, and the print preview shows that, the printer continues to use the original font & size (which is too big to fit my page.) It also refuses to print the grid, which I've also selected. I've connected a second printer thinking maybe the printer was at fault, but I get the same results! Any help out there for the helpless? Thanks.
