Question

wordpad with a photo very slow to open

I created a wordpad file containing a photo (.jpg) by drag & drop, then saved the file. When I try to open it it takes 2-3 minutes to open, but is OK once opened. I've tried this on files with & without any text. Any thoughts on why?

Other Wordpad file (.rtf) containing only text open immediately. No other problems observed.
OS windows 10 up to date.

I see nothing odd about this.

But do try LibreOffice next time. Documents with images do take much longer depending on the PC of course.

LibreOffice is my choice as well as getting this Office workalike from Ninite.com.

I do use LibreOffice as well -- the same document takes about 8 seconds to open in LO. Still surprised that it should take 2-3 MINUTES in wordpad.

Microsoft's built in apps

Tend to be low performance. Again, since LO is fine, you are just (re?)discovering what we all know.
