Word will not start

Sep 4, 2004 8:15AM PDT

I am using Windows XP Pro with Office Xp Pro. Yesterday I went to open Word and it will not launch. I tried the suggestions posted here: http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/NNTWord.htm and it did not resolve the problem I uninstalled Office, and reinstalled and the problem still occurs. All of the other office programs work fine. I checked in task manager, and WINWORD.EXE is listed as running and I cannot shut it down using end process.

That is typical is NORMAL.DOT is corrupt. You said you tried, but really didn't list what was tried. Did you delete all the NORMAL.DOTs?

Yes, deleted all files named normal.dot. Still have the same problem.

Use XP's Systerm Restore...

To when it worked.

Then look for the Office Resource Kit and the Office Removal Wizard. Use that, then install Office. Then look up IEFIX and run that, then see how it works.

If it still doesn't work, you call Microsoft.

Did that earlier. I just ran Spybot and Adaware. After running both programs and finding a lot of stuff in there, Word now works fine.

Thanks !
