Word stat large

Sep 16, 2005 8:54PM PDT

Hi There everybody I was wondering if you could help a friend of mine she has impaired sight. She has just bought a compter and types her letters in Word. When word starts up she wants it to start up so that the view of the screen is enlarged so she can see it better "not just increasing the font size" she still wants to print at font sixe 14. As I dont use Word I have little or no knowlage of this program. Can you customize Word to start this way or not?????.
Jenny says Thank you to all who try to answer this question.
Kindest Regards Tony B.

Let me be frank. Your request is not unlike asking how to perform a maneuver in a car but claiming you don't drive a car. But there is an answer.

Create a macro that does the VIEW ZOOM command for the document. Then they tap the key combo you assigned to that macro when need be.

You also can set the OS to 640x480 and larger fonts in the OS so that filters to all the applcations without affecting the printout.

Cheers,

Bob

To continue with Bob's excellent suggestion ...

see what happens if you set the zoom factor to 200% (or whatever is needed) in normat.dot, then save it. It might work on no documents at all, only on new documents or on existing documents at all.
If it doesn't work investigate the effect of an Autoexec-macro setting the zoom to 200% in normal.dot.

I've never tried and leave the investigation to you. If it is succesfull, your friend will be grateful.

Of course, using a LARGE screen (say, a 21" LCD) helps enormously.

Hope this helps.
