Word prints all characters of a sentence in on space

We are having an issue where Word will print all characters to a single space. The issue is inconsistent. I have only been able to recreate it once, but our customers are seeing is sporadically.

Environment
Mail Merge documents being generated inside our C# application. This happens on multiple mail merge fields, so I couldn't nail it down to a specific mail merge field.

This just started to happen for us. The strange thing is that we didn't change anything in the product that would touch this area...that we know of.

Had anyone else seen this? Does anyone else know how to fix it?

If you didn't change anything in the product, you should be able to prove it's an Office or .Net/C# issue by proving that an old version of the software (say, one from april) with the current version of .Net and the current version of Word now shows the problem also, while it worked correctly then.
Then contact Microsoft.
