word home page gone mad

when i open word the"homepage" document is a page that i inadvertainly saved a few weeks ago and not a blank white page. I have tried changing the template by visiting "new" but to no avail? can you help

I am running Office 2003 Pro and did a search fr normal.dot and came up empty handed. I assume MS fixed/nixed it?
