Word Documents Corrupted!!!

Aug 19, 2007 6:18PM PDT

Hi!
I am using windows XP Professional with 550MHz Processor and 128MB Ram. The version of MS Office is 2003. The problem is that a few weeks ago, all of my MS Office documents got corrupted. Whenever I try to open a file, it gives an error that convert it into some other format. When I do that, my file shows strange symbols. I want to know that how can I recover my documents? Thanks.

Some questions first:
- "all my documents" = including old unchanged, or only newly saved?
- take any old "corrupted" document. What is (a) full filename (including extension, like .doc or .rtf), (b) file size in bytes and (c) date modified? All can be shown in My Computer or Windows Explorer
- send such a document as an attachment to somebody else and ask him/her to open it in Word or the free Microsoft Word Viewer (download from office.microsoft.com). What happens?
- what is the exact error you get. Full text please without typo's.

Not sure yet that all your documents are corrupted until the above questions are answered. It could be a problem in Word with the documents being unchanged.

Recovering - if the are corrupted - might be difficult. But surely you have them on a backup?
