Question

Word 2013 and Citation 9

Sep 18, 2015 9:04PM PDT

I have recently upgraded to Office 2013, (Windows 10), and my Citation 9 link has disappeared. (Yes, I know I should move off Citation 9, but none of the export suggestions work for me).

I have tried re-installing Citation, but that hasn't helped.

So, I can still open Citation as a program, but it doesn't link to any of my documents. How can I put it into Word?

Thanks

Ouch.

I wonder if their uninstaller leaves stuff behind. You may have to dive in and remove old folders from Citation to effect a clean install of the product.

There's also some antivirus apps that can interfere with Word addons. But you don't write there is such so my best bet is that the uninstall isn't complete.

Try REVO UNINSTALLER from http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html if you want to try avoiding the old manual cleanup.

I can't give you an exact step by step since I don't use this product. I have for decades used manual uninstalls (I've been at this before DOS and up to Windows 10.)

Need to upgrade - at a cost
Sep 22, 2015 9:23PM PDT

Hi All

Thanks for your comments. I mailed them again, and I've just received an email response to my query, so, for those of you in a similar situation, here it is:

To be compatible with Office 2013, I need to upgrade my copy of Citation 9.0 to 9.8. At a cost of $69. With Office 2016 on the horizon, this could become an expensive process.

I guess it's time for me to renew my efforts at exporting my Citation Database.

Thanks anyway.

Just a note.

Today I'm going to install Office 2003 on Windows 10. I see from the web it works on that OS so why not?

That is, why not use your older office that worked with Citation?

I teach Office 2013
Sep 24, 2015 3:00AM PDT

As part of my work, I teach Office 2013. I know from experience that best way to know a product well enough to teach it is to use it, and continually, so that's not a solution. Nice idea though Happy
