Question

Word 2013

Jun 11, 2014 6:21AM PDT

I'm having continual problems with my Word 2013, in fact so many problems(many error messages) that I bought a new copy of it and downloaded it. As I continued to have similar problems(files disappearing,+ error messages(this file is in use+cannot be saved) that I had someone re download it.This did not work either(same problems).
What do you think is wrong???

How can files disappear?
Jun 11, 2014 6:28AM PDT

A rather seasoned member was losing files but a short back and forth found they were really asking why they disappear from the File, Open list in Word. That list is dynamic or fluid.

-> Files however can go missing for many reasons. I read you use carbonite so how could my file go missing with that?

That is, if that doesn't work, go old school and keep copies on some USB stick.

From what you tell, nothing seems wrong with MS Word. So it's something else. I'd start with a clean reinstall of Windows 7 to see if Word behaves as it should.

Answer
Word 2013 Problem?
Jul 20, 2014 1:51AM PDT

I'm from old school and still using Word 2003 but can only suggest this....was this a download program from a
site or was it a off the shelp package???
If the former, then you "might" have picked up something from the download...
If the latter, then " " " a bad hard copy...take it back to dealer and explain to him what has
happened and maybe he might can set up a system similar to yours.

What I "ALWAYS" do when downloading "ANYTHING" from sites, is to download it to my desktop "FIRST" and then
scan it with Avast and Malware bytes....if it passes then I install it into my desktop.
If I start having problems such as yours, then
I'd start from scratch and defrag HD, do a system clean using a 'good' anti-virus program and malware sweep.
All this seems like it's either too simple or too much time but try it.
With that being said you might want to set up your page parameters for typing a letter and then set it as
'default'.
Hope this helps somewhat....
