Word 2007 forgets undo history, leaves object irretrievable

Nov 25, 2010 4:23AM PST

Dear all,

I just had the weirdest thing happening in Word 2007. I am preparing a short draft with figures (text boxes containing image and numbered caption, "top and bottom" wrapping mode). After fiddling around with the anchors or positions of the figures, one of them disappeared from the Page Layout view without a trace, and I cannot seem to get it back. Only in the Full-Screen Preview it is still visible but not editable.

If that weren't enough, simultaneously Word purged all of its edit history so I cannot undo whatever made this happen.

Any advice?

Thank you,
Matthias

Save often.

A long time ago I learned to save a work in progress often. I'd put it in its own folder then save rev1, rev2, rev3 and so on so I could work around Word's buggs.

is this anything to do with Print margins?

If it shows up in Print Preview does it overlap the print margins? If so, that might be the cause of the problem.
