Word 2007 Error pop up on opening

Has anyone experienced this problem. Every time I open a Word doc an error warning pops up "because of macro security settings". I have to click on OK twice to open it. I have followed the "Help" instructions to go to "Trust Center Settings" and "disable all macros WITH notification". After following these instructions to the letter, I open the doc again and continue to get the pop ups, click OK twice and DO NOT get the Security Alert in the "Document Information Bar". No document information bar shows up.
I have gone into the Trust Center and made sure the "Show The Information Bar" IS checked.
