In your users>yourname>library>preferences there is a folder called Microsoft. Put it on the desktop and restart Word. If it works, trash the folder minus Custom Dictionary. If not, put it back. Opening a document or creating a new one and then trying to Save (or Save As...) causes Word to puke. No dialog box appears. The red close dot vanishes from the title bar, most menu items (including Save etc.) are greyed out, and the only recourse is Force Quit.
Re-opening Word gives me the documents back in "(Recovered)" form, but of course I can't save them because it all happens again.
Removing the .plist file doesn't help.
