i have run the defragmentation program several times and it completed several times but it never completely defrags my hard drive after it finished defragging every time i pressed analyze and it still said you should defragment this volume and the fragmentation stays at 14%!

i am running windows xp professional and i have over 15% free disk space when running it

The supplied defragmentor may require up to 1/2 the drive empty to defrag all but a few files. This is by design. It's not broken and what's left is unlikely to cause any issue.

I have a similar problem:

When I run a defrag in either Windows default or through Nortons Speedisc they both stop at half way (around 40-50%) and won't go any further. I have a P4 2g 512 DDR ram and about half my hard drive free.

Any answers to this problem?

I would perform a checkdisk first, to see if there are any problems with the disk.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
