That's called STRESS! By stressing the power supply it ages. The bad news is that it can fail and take out the rest of the machine.
Get a proper size 450 or better Watt power supply before you see failing motherboard capacitors which are working overtime as well.

I bought a Medion last March (specs below). In June on booting up after the RAM check it freezes up and the only thing displayed is ?Detecting IDE drives?.? I called them and I was 3 days out of warrenty. NO HELP without $$$. I removed the 120Gb HD and put it in a test computer it did not work. I took a known good HD (W95) and put it in the Medion and got it to boot as far as safemode. Then I put the original 120Gb back in and it ran fine for 7 months. A few weeks ago it started doing the same thing. This time the W95 disk did not help. I took the 120 HD out and put it in a test computer (as a slave) and recovered all my data from it. I removed the test computer Master and tried booting it (the 120) as a master and as CS master. It did not work. I booted it with a CD, formatted it and reloaded it. It worked fine in the test computer. I then put it back in the Medion. This time it booted fine. I put all the devices back in one at a time. Everything worked fine. A few days later same thing ?Detecting IDE drives?.?.
Any Ideas? Bad motherboard, BIOS, power supply etc? I?m pretty sure it is NOT the HD.
