Since she did bootleg an amount that would not be considered "fair play" and also that there are explicit EULA's that, by purchasing her ticket, she agreed to - I think the movie theater is on the right side here.
a few thoughts, though:
1) 2 nights in jail seem a bit harsh. 1 night may have had the message "hit home".
2) There have gotta be better methods than time in the local jail to "get the message home" for an offense like this.
3) In India, the theaters and/or movie producer will pay someone to watch over the reels of film - night and day. This so that no one smuggles a the set of reels away and thus jeapordizes the producer's ability to recoup the cost of the making the movie via its presentation.
