Wolfenstein ET hosting a server from home problems

Dec 18, 2007 5:33AM PST

I am trying to host a Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory server on my computer so my friends can connect to it. I host LAN servers on my local network at home without a problem. When I host a dedicated server I can not connect to it by connecting to the IP provided by by ISP (78.12.xx.xx). I went to the control panel of my router (Netgear DG834G) and changed settings so the port 27960 (and other ports ET uses) is forwarded to the computer that is hosting the server (192.168.0.2). I also allowed outbound connections on the port 27960. When I host the server I type: start et.exe +set dedicated 2 +set net_ip 78.12.xx.xx +set net_port 27960 +set sv_punkbuster 1 +map oasis . When I connect to 78.12.xx.xx it only says awaiting connection. What should I do to host a server from my computer?

Thanks in advance for any help

I allready tried that. I checked out portforward.com and forwarded all the ports the game uses (27950, 27952, 27860, 27965 and some others). I set it all to allow always. I can't get it work.
I have tryed hamachi and that works but I would like people who do not have hamachi to connect.

Thank you

Problem solved

This was the problem: I forwarded TCP ports instead of UDP. Now people can connect from the internet and the server can be found on the master server.

Thanks for the help
