WMV Editing in "The Movies"

Dec 6, 2005 10:59AM PST

I have had the "Movies" game for about two weeks. It allows me to script, write and shoot a type of movie, and then in post production add sound files and make some changes to it.

I did some searching and found that the files it creates are just .wmv files and I would like to edit those files with a more powerful editor. Put better transitions, slice and dice, clone sections, etc.

Any ideas?

let me clarify

let me clarify what I seek is some kind of (I WILL PAY FOR IT! does not have to be free) product that lets me edit my wmv files.

I do not need to convert it to any other format. In fact I would prefer not too.

I hear that windows comes with a bundled movie editor, but I am actually not sure where that is or how powerful it is.

upload a wmv once modified to the movies?
Dec 6, 2005 11:22AM PST

any ideas on how to mod the wmv in ''The movies'' so you can upload it?

Actually, I was able to find the windows movie player, and import it as a collection and save as a .wmv

That part works pretty good.

sadly, I am not able to actually replace the same file in my movies directory and upload it. I saved the file and then went to go upload it, and the movies app won't let me do that.

Goals?

My goal is to make a DVD of my 'stuff.'

Since your goal is to change that application, I won't be able to help since I didn't write that application.

Best of luck,

not trying to

not trying to change the application.

There are three files that are kept in "The movies" directory for an exported movie. One of them is the WMV and the other two are configuration related. One of which is a simple text file that appears to be a log in plain text of the stop and points of various cues in the movie.

The other is in some kind of hexi type code, that while there are text strings, you'd need to know how to edit it.

I believe this may prevent me from editing the WMV and then replacing the file in the folder for upload. I'd like a way around that, that would be great.

On a second note, even if I cannot edit my movie and upload to their site, I'd still love to get a great software to edit my movie besides the standard window one.

Especially if It lets me combine sound tracks and edit them within the movie. (emulates multi-channel recording)

This is where you contact the author of that app.

Editing video content is possible and if I didn't mention WINAVI then I forgot that it allows you to convert the file to something editable and back to WMV.

However, the hexidecimal codes will be application specific so the software author will have to let you in on the secrets.
