WMP problems

I tried to install WMP 11 for 64-bit systems but the WMP that came with Vista seemed to be newer. In desperation I tried to delete the folder with the cmd del c:\ etc. It deleted some files but thats it. WMP still works but will not play WMV files and when I try the setup it won't give me a repair option, it only tells me that I have the same version already. Any help?

i cannot seem to repair or uninstall/reinstall wmp11 as well, anybody have any ideas????
