Question

WMP moves (deletes files from library) after burning to CD

May 2, 2019 8:58AM PDT

When burning an audio CD, as each file (track) was burned, WMP deleted the source file from the library. The end result is that the album is MOVED from the library to the disc, instead of COPIED. Any ideas?

Answer
That's not the default I've seen for over a decade.

I haven't seen this issue so my advice is to change apps. I use CDBURNERXP (works on W10 fine) from Ninite.com (because no toolbars installed there) and can make audioCDs and more.

Wish I had seen this issue.

But as I use other CD recording apps I may have dodged a bullet there. Why don't I use WMP? Mostly because MSFT has changed it over the years and it's pretty terrible about backups and keeping your library safe. So I went another way.

This problem has just surfaced...  I have burned many CDs without issue.  I thought that perhaps I unknowingly made a setting change.

PS. WMP Playlist issues are as old as Windows Media Player.

I could give links but WMP has a history. Not a good one. My best advice is to use another app to make AudioCDs.
