What happens if
Nov 22, 2010 4:52AM PST

you right click that next song file and select Play?

I'm not sure but I seem to remember seeing talk of WMP having some setting or other to "Add to playlist". You may want to explore WMP's Tools > Options to see if there is anything that suggests your problem.

By the way, we edited out your email address. Not a good idea that, posting email addresses in public forums like these. They can be trawled for spam purposes.

Maybe..

.. too obvious an answer to be correct but here it goes..

If you open WMP, tools, options, un-check "Add Local Media Files to Library when Played", then if you open the second song as you have been, if it goes to library, click the little icon in the bottom right, the "now playing icon" 3 squares and an arrow, see if this works. If not, I have no idea.

If all else fails, you could try this free media player replacement...

or

Then there is Media Player Classic..

Just some other options for you until you find a resolution, or you may decide you like these better.

Maybe there is...

You could uninstall Media Player and reinstall.
First...

1. Go to Start, type in **Windows Features** in the search box. Look for the **turn windows features on or off**, go down to **Media Features** uncheck WMP and WMC **windows media center** since it will state that you have to anyway.

2. It will uninstall and probably ask for a restart.

3. After restarted, go back in as above, re-check the boxes, WMP, WMC and it will reinstall them.

Now, I can't guarantee it will work but for the most part, it fixes issues that get messed up otherwise and though, hey, it may work in your case too.
