WMP 11 won't recognize audio cds/video cds

by geoptin / March 4, 2007 4:18 AM PST

Hello,
I\m new in this Forum, but I'm pretty sure someone will be able to help me.
It's been some tone now that my Windows Media player 11 doesn't recognize an audio cd or a video dvd and can't pay them. I get a weird message "Cannot find the file. If you are trying to burn, play, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." All that for a single audio cd!...
Auto play is checked on, any information from the Internet has been unchecked. I just can't find a solution.
I run Windows XP Pro SP2, fully updated. I also have Vista Home Premium installed on another HD of my computer. When I run Vista I DONT HAVE THIS PROBLEM! Everything works just fine.
Thanks,
George

Conflict of OS
by kpo6969 / March 4, 2007 5:24 PM PST

I've read that when you upgrade to Vista you have to uninstall WMP11 and then reinstall Vista version. So there may be a conflict if you're running two OS on same computer?

Have you tried a different player?

WMP11 has difficulties.

Many here recommend the free vlcplayer. I've not tried it myself.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
