I found when WMP is not the default player, it will ask if you want to make it the default player each time you open or run it. Have you check the settings? Open WMP, go to tools, options and click on file types. Put a check mark in the box for each files you want WMP to be the default player.

..for changing the associated file settings in WMP 10, make sure to change those settings in Quicktime also.

As Gail mentioned in WMP, click on "Tools", "Options", then the "File Types" tab, then make sure that the appropriate file type box is CHECKED.

IN Quicktime, open the "Control Panel", double click on the Quicktime icon (the blue Q), then click on the drop down menu, select "File Type Associations", then click on the "File Types" button. Go through the various file types and UNCHECK those that you want WMP to play.

Hope this helps.
