My experience with wmp10 on a new ipaq rx1955 is even worse. After many hours of attempts of various things I only get digital noise for audio on all video playback. It plays mp3's okay but wma and wmv audio come out as noise. Are other rx1955 owners having this problem? Running wm5.0 os and have recently upgradec to latest rom code release. Have tried TCPMP player with avi and have similar audio result.

I just got the ROM update for my Ipaq 2755 from HP, which included WMP 10 mobile. At first I was impressed by some of the new features, but when I started using it, I realized how bad it really is.
A couple of advantages with the new WMP mobile version is album art during playback and a new way to view your music files in a library format (album, artist, now playing, etc.). Unfortounately, that's about as far as it goes. Now for the bad: First of all, there is no way to save any customized playlists that you create. I have searched this extensively and could not find any way to do this within WMP 10 mobile. Secondly, the hardware button support is much worse than in WMP 9 mobile. The only buttons you can match are the D-pad and action button, and there is no option to then map those buttons to WMP while you are using other applications, another disadvantage when compared with WMP 9 mobile. I am contimplating going back to the original ROM to get WMP 9 mobile back, but I had problems with my CF slot and wireless networking with it before, so I'll probably just stick with the updated version and WMP 10 mobile. To make up for the loss in playlist support, I downloaded a free playlist generating program:
http://www.cs.pitt.edu/~jmisurda/ppc/playlist/playlist_ed.htm
and another media player which will support DivX and playlist creation:
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
Getting rid of a simple thing such as saving a playlist and hardware button support seems pretty stupid for nothing apparently gained by MS.
