Having any web-mail service as well as email client software, (eg WLM, Thunderbird, etc), does not threatened saved emails in the client mail software.
If you want those save emails to be exported to Hotmail the only practical way is to FORWARD them. Copies will be retained in WLM's Sent folder, and the forwarded emails will be received by Hotmail into the Inbox folder.

If I change from WLM to hotmail will I lose my saved mail? I haven't found a practical way to export my saved mail folder out of live mail. Any help would be appreciated.
