Question

With some DVDs my Samsung K7000 won’t display in 4:3

Aug 2, 2017 8:01AM PDT

How can I stop a Samsung K7000 from displaying a 4:3 DVD in “Fit to screen” mode?

I’m puzzled. One DVD containing a slide show in 4:3 displays in the correct format on my Samsung K7000. Another DVD, which displays in 4:3 on my wide angle MacBook changes to wide format on the TV and does not allow me to change it in Settings (4:3 Screen Size, This function isn’t available).

They are both DVDs, they are both 4:3, one works on Samsung K7000, the other doesn’t.

Answer
I found this to be pretty fiddly.

One time I found the player to be where the change happened so in the player I had to fish around for it's settings to stop fit, or upscaling. I see you already tried the TV settings.

I tried but didn't find any useful possibilities on the DVD player's remote control, so my question remains, how can I force my Samsung K7000 to display a DVD in 4:3 when it claims that the "4:3 function isn’t available". The DVD displays correctly in 4:3 on my wide screen MacBook.

Back to the makers.

I don't have your setup but know the problem and shared that I've had to fish around settings when I run into this issue.

Time to call the maker of TV and player to see if they have a fix.

PS. While on the call have the support check if your TV/player firmware is current and how to update.
