Wireless Webcam Recommendations

Jan 29, 2006 12:52AM PST

I have a Westell Versalink327 Wireless Router that works with both PCs and my Apple Powerbook. I'm looking for a decent, but not too expensive Wireless Webcam ($200 or less) so I can keep an eye on my anxiety-ridden Golden Retriever. Any suggestions?

Great System
Feb 8, 2006 2:40AM PST

I've been using this system since mid December when they first came out, and I couldn't be happier. As for price, I think they're cheap. I have done the web cam thing, I have a box of 2.4GHz analog cameras that are useless for security, so finally finding something that works was a wonderful surprise, then finding that someone had been snooping around our house made it timely.

I had looked at trying some IP cameras (wired or wireless), but they are much more expensive, and a pain to set up. Then, finding DVR software that will work well, detect and record on motion and allow internet access easily was driving me nuts unless I wanted to pay even more. I especially like the playback feature in the software that comes with the cameras. It is really simple to review any motion that was recorded during the last 24 hours or last few weeks. That the video is Windows Media makes it easy to grab a video file and send it to someone without having to worry if they can play it back.

The LukWerks system turned out to be everything I could ever hope for and in one (well, 4) boxes with 4 cameras. It worked so well that I have starter kits to my family for Christmas.
