Resolved Question

Wireless streaming?

by leoleann55 / August 4, 2012 2:22 AM PDT

Hi,
I want to stream audio from my mac to multiple sources without breaking the bank. Sonos is too expensive and from what I can tell the airport express can only stream iTunes content (not pandora, etc.).
Any suggestions on other products is extremely helpful.
Also I need to stream across my house and to 4 or 5 devices with 3.5mm connections.
Thanks

There are a couple of options for you, depending on what apps you would like to stream more than others.

First, I highly recommend Airfoil. It's a $25 program that allows you to stream almost any program from your Mac/PC via the Airport Express. Works like a charm. Link:

I've also heard Pandora junkies talk about Pandorajam. It might not have been updated recently though. YMMV.

If you own an iPad, there may be at least a couple of other options for sharing the Pandora stream via Airplay. One is mentioned in the comments here:

Have fun,

I was unaware of programs like those and they should work great! The echo issue shouldn't be a problem because they are in different rooms.
Thanks!

Truth be told

I've never experienced the echo issues I've heard about others hearing on their networks. YMMV, I guess. And my wifi network at home's nothing particularly high end or exotic. <shrug>
