Wireless slowing down

Jun 17, 2005 2:27PM PDT

ok, so three computers. all running xp pro. one desktop is plugged into the router, one laptop with a wireless card, and another desktop with a usb wirelss adapter. the router and both wireless units are linksys 802.11b. both the wired desktop and the wireless laptop run at normal speeds for the cable modem connection we have, but the wireless desktop loads webpages and any streaming media painfully slow. it doensn't however seem to have a problem with straight forward downloads through http, ftp, or even bittorrent or limewire. it also seems to get slower over time.

anyone have a clue? let me know if there's anything other info about the network that would be important.

i know countless people who run p2p apps and have absolutley no problems with wireless. and i'm also not talking about the internet being slow while any p2p app is running. just in general.

No, it's a problem worth noting.

Post in other forums and see what the general mood is here for P2P users. You'll find that P2P users are generally bashed, ignored or chided.

Go ahead.

-> More to the point, this is your choice about using such and I know it to be a source of trouble. Now that you know countless people with this, you can get your support there.
