I use XP Pro and a Linksys wireless B USB network adapter to connect to a wireless network, and although I understand that the icon on my system tray doesn't show the connection strength in real time, I don't understand why the accurate signal strength isn't reflected within the wireless network connection status dialog box. For example, when I drag my cursor over the wireless icon in the system tray, I see "Speed: 11 Mbps; Signal Strength: Low". That is also what I see when I right click on status. But when I go to the View Wireless Networks page and refresh the network list, I see that my network shows either "excellent" or "very good" signal strength. Why isn't that then reflected in my status dialog box and on the icon tray? Which information should I assume is accurately reflecting my connection speed/strength?
