A good 802.11g connection is 54 megabits per second or Mbps. Until you get your internet speed to at least 1/2 that, 802.11g is fine.

Hello,
Thanks for having such useful forums. Have been searching the net and cannot find any concrete answer. I have DSL at home from Qwest at 3mbs. Generally it is a 3mb pipe per the gateway diagnostics. My question is this; Does it matter if I use 802.11g or 802.11n wireless router? I mean if I am only getting 3mb in to my home does having the ability to broadcast at 108mbs (theoretically) make a difference? As long as my broadcast speed is at or above what is incoming to my home does it make a difference which 802.11 standard I use in performance? Thanks for any responses.
