But that's not a router, and it's important to keep your terms straight if you want effective support.
A wireless router is a wireless device that primarily transmits a signal, and wireless cards are primarily receivers. Wireless cards/receivers tend to come in three main types. Either as a PCI card that plugs into the inside of the computer, a USB attached device, or what's known as a wireless ethernet bridge which essentially turns any ethernet port into a wireless device.
Almost universally, USB attached wireless devices are horrible. PCI cards tend to be the best, but they don't have the same range as an ethernet bridge. Since those connect via an ethernet cable, you can theoretically have the wireless receiver at the end of a very long ethernet cable if you have signal issues. Kind of defeats the purpose of wireless to have more than a few feet of cable, but it's possible.
I have a wireless router hooked up to my computer. I am wondering if they make a router that I can put on another computer in another room that will receive the signal? Now is where I make it complicated. I am wondering if they make one that attaches to the other computer through the ethernet port rather than the USB port. We have had a couple receivers that attached through the USB port that we had terrible luck with. We would like to try one that attaches to the ethernet port instead. If you would just tell me if there is something available rather than me trying to explain why the USB port ones aren't working is what I am looking for. Thank you very much in advance.
