Wireless Router and DSL Modem

by MDT / December 31, 2004 4:09 AM PST

I recently installed a Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I am able to connect to the internet only if I plug in the router separately so it will boot up 10 seconds or so after the DSL modem. My previous Netgear router was plugged into the same power strip as my modem with no problems.

Is there a way to fix this problem? Tech support was not very helpful. I also have Zone Alarm firewall software installed but so far don?t see any configuration conflicts.

I would appreciate any input that you may have.

A repeating issue I run into are these units have out of date firmware as soon as you open the box. If not, return it as defective.

In reply to: Firmware.

I don't think that Netgear has any firmware updates yet for the V5 router that I have.

As it stands, it seems defective.
