Question

Wireless Router

Apr 19, 2011 11:27PM PDT

I am looking to purchase a wireless router with a print and fax server that does not require a laptop or desktop to be wired to it. I have 2 macbook pro laptops and 2 dell laptops that are going to be using the network. I have a cable modem. What are the best choices for a wireless router for this type of set up?

I prefer D-link. Linksys is also good. All the routers today will serve printers. FAX needs a telephone line. You will need to set the router up wired to a PC first, then you can go completely wireless.

and they have been in networking for a long time. I had my router and pc connected and purchased a wireless printer. I went into the network setting at the printer and it came up with a list of available wireless connections within range. (neighbors router were in range). Because I had security setup i had to enter the password and I was connected.

I recommmend you use security when setting up your router. I had a friend that told me the police came knocking at her door because someone was doing somethin on her wireless network and they were able to trace it to the IP address of her network through her internet profider.
