All the information you have are almost correct.
The printer CAN be connected to the print server ... BUT, You only can print.... you would not be able to use other printer function (scanning, faxing, copying etc.)
Hello. I have a laptop connected wirelessly to a Linksys WRT54G router. For the most part, it works well.
But I still have to plug my printer into the laptop to print. It is my understanding that one can connect a printer to a wireless print serve and print without having to plug the printer into the computer. It is also my understanding that one cannot do this with a multifunction machine, but rather with only a regular printer. Is this correct? It is also my understanding that some of the newer MFCs, just coming onto the market fix this problem. Is this correct? Is there anyway to work around this?
In case you need to know I have a Brother MFC-8500. It is about 4 years old but has worked very well for me. I have a laptop using XP home.
Thanks!
