I give them a static IP address. This allows me to manually set up the printer port on the PC needing to access it. Setting up and hanging onto a static address might mean you need to change some router settings to make sure nothing else will be assigned that address but it's fairly idiot proof otherwise...or so I've found. Now if you can determine the name that the printer goes by, you can also set that up manually as well. Sometimes the software wizards take a holiday so it's not bad to use the old fashioned method. Good luck.
just bought a canon pixmaMG6120 wireless printer...hooked it up to our wireless network (via a netgear wg624v3 wireless router). pritner recognizes the network, can sign into the network and has an IP in they systems setting. i can print to it via my iphone and ipad (all on the same wireless network).
my HP dv6 laptop doesnt recognize a printer is on the network though. i've tried using the included cd, tried doing it via IP address, tried taking down all the firewalls, and nothing seems to work.
