Wireless printer, how?

I just got myself a dell laptop (6400 inspiron). I also have a brother printer MFC 240C which is hooked up directly to my desktop. I went looking for a wireless / wired router that would enable net connection to my laptop as well as be able to use the printer, they don't seem to know what I'm talking about, or they say its hard to get one of those. any ideas? or model numbers that I could give out on my searches? Pls reply, thanks.

SHARED PRINTER
Keep printer connected to desktop. Connect desktop and notebook to wireless router. Connections to router can be wired or wireless--your choice. Enable printer sharing. Note that desktop must be powered on for notebook to use shared printer.

NETWORK PRINTER
Connect computers to wireless router. Attach printer to wireless router via a wired print server, or attach printer to wireless router via a wireless print server. Note that it is sometimes difficult to find a print server compatible with a particular printer.
